Continue ReadingCOA, or Crossroads Of America, is located in the western portion of Indiana, in Terre Haute. Drawing players from both Illinois and Indiana, we’ll focus on just the Indiana athletes from the class of 2022. There are plenty available, in multiple positions, spread out over three teams.
***Full disclosure, as of this writing, there are no teams playing in the 17s division at COA.
18 Cyclones
The top team at COA has a couple of high-flying bangers on their roster. Gentry Warrick Gentry Warrick 6'0" | MB Linton-Stockton | 2022 State IN is my favorite on this squad, jump touching over ten feet. She’s most likely to be an M2 at the next level, but can be a middle for anyone from low-Division 1 on down. Another big jumper is Marietta McGinnis. Also a two-footed middle, Marietta is almost at ten feet herself, and transitions quickly while hitting a high and heavy ball. Holly Linville Holly Linville 5'9" | MB Covington | 2022 State IN plays middle for her high school program, but her size (5-9) might keep her on a pin. Karsyn Engle has spent extensive time as a setter, but her size (5-6) might limit that to a 6-2 setter. She’s also fully capable of being a DS at the next level. Emma Fell can be a three-rotation DS, while the other Emma, Emma Hopper, will look to be the libero this spring.
18 Pink Panthers
Another six athletes on this roster are graduating in 2022. The highest leapers on this squad are Ella Bell and Riley Dierdorf, both of whom attack at 9-6 and up. Ella is a six foot middle that pounds, while Riley will probably see time on both pins. Setters Anna Zellers and Jade Runyan will both see time with this roster, and Jade can fill in as a DS in a pinch. Speaking of DS’s, both Hannah Winters and Mallory Rogers are solid in serve receive and defend well.
18 Crossfire
Middles Juliette Tomamichel and Jenna Brown might be undersized, but can still bring a heavy ball. Both Jo Dee Barnes and Elise Lowe will see extensive time as DS’s, and maybe compete for the special jersey. Hannah Saucerman should be the 5-1 setter for this squad.
