First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The Mid-Columbia district reunites nine high schools from the 3A and 4A classes and their three best players are:
Marin Mackey – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Richland
Marin Mackey provided a reassuring presence at the center of Richland’s net in 2019. The six-foot middle-blocker owns a reliable offensive game, predicated on her strong approach and an interesting variation of hits, and is also an efficient blocker for the Bombers. She quickly became one of the team’s most important players and got some well-deserved recognition for her solid display in the shape of an All-State team honorable mention and an All-League first-team selection.
Autumn Larson – Outside Hitter – Junior – Kennewick
Kennewick’s Autumn Larson is one of the most lethal hitters in the entire district. Her 6’3” frame makes her life easier at the net and her great shot selection puts her in position to score at ease, even when hitting from the backcourt. There’s still some work to be done on her passing and digging skills, but her scoring ability makes of her an exciting prospect and that was reflected in the All-State team honorable mention and the All-League second-team nomination she received last season.
Ryan White Ryan White 5'8" | DS/L Richland | 2021 State WA – Libero – Senior – Richland
Ryan White Ryan White 5'8" | DS/L Richland | 2021 State WA is a fearless defender who’s always willing to put her body on the line to dig balls for Richland – and, believe me, her great positioning puts her in position to do so more often than many other defenders in the district. A high-energy player, White is also a smart server, which allows the 5’8” prospect to extrapolate her duties as the team’s libero and score some points for the Bombers every night. Her 2019 performance led her to receive an All-State team honorable mention and to be included in the All-League first team. She ranks 49th at prepdig.com’s class of 2021 ranking.
