Continue ReadingOver the last few months, we’ve provided you a lot of information about who are the players you won’t want to miss when the high school volleyball season starts in Washington next March. First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The North Pudget Sound district features high schools from the 3A and 4A classes and the Olympic portion has seven of those. Their three best players are:
Rachel Davis – Outside Hitter – Senior – Tahoma
Tahoma was dominant in the district last year winning all of their seven matches on their way to winning the State Championship title. One of their young talents in that campaign was Rachel Davis, who did everything you’d expect from an elite-level outside hitter for the Lady Bears. The 5’10” prospect knows what to do when she’s at the net and is very efficient due to her good leaping ability and powerful swings. She can also play defense and that combination pushed her to receive an All-State team honorable mention.
Allison Stewart – Setter – Senior – Kentwood
Allison Stewart is as reliable as it gets as a setter. The Kentwood prospect is one of those setters with whom hitters know exactly the ball is going at the net. She’s a good decision-maker and has a great feel of the game, meaning she more likely than not will make the right play. At 5’4”, Stewart is not much of a factor at the net, but she makes up for that with a solid and hard-working defensive game and dangerous serving skills.
Alyssa Thelen Alyssa Thelen 6'2" | RS Tahoma | 2022 WA – Right Sider/Outside Hitter – Junior – Tahoma
Alyssa Thelen Alyssa Thelen 6'2" | RS Tahoma | 2022 WA is working on her game to become an all-around player. The Tahoma right sider/outside hitter had a head start in that process due to her 6’2” frame, but worked hard in refining her technical skills with beach volleyball sessions. Her improvement was noticeable and even if her game at the net is what makes her a special player, she’s on her way to reach a similar level on her defensive skills. She’s also part of prepdig.com’s class of 2022 watchlist.
