Seniors
Janasia Carter (Mcnair)
Carter is the focal point of Mcnair. As an outside hitter, she has all of the shots going line, cut shot, cross-court, tip, etc. Her creativity is what makes her lethal and keeps defenses off-balance what is going to happen. Last year, she was all-division honors finishing with 103 kills, 26 blocks and 21 digs.
Brenda Gonzalez (Dickinson)
Gonzalez was a snub for any mentions in the division. She led the way on a Dickinson squad that struggled a year ago. Her numbers were not out of this world but she was one that helped lead the way to keep Dickinson in matches. She had 50 kills and 22 blocks. Another year as the number one option should allow her to flourish this spring.
Sabrina Pereira (Kearny)
Pereria is one of the many juniors returning for Kearny. She is a solid outside hitter who finished with 46 kills and 84 digs. She’s one who is going to be a part of three-headed monster on Kearny and will flourish as defenses will struggle who to prepare for. Expect another solid season from her.
Michelle Carvajal (Memorial)
Carvajal should be on for a monster season. She was splitting time on the outside and now will be one of the focal points in the Memorial offense. She’s also a solid passer which gives her the ability to play in the back row. She had 33 kills and 81 digs a year ago. Watch for her numbers to skyrocket.
Junior
Nathaly Flores (Union City)
Flores was the heartbeat of Union City leading the way and finishing with 184 kills. Her athleticism makes her a dominant outside and a leading candidate to be player of the year in the division and potentially the conference. Flores is one to keep an eye on this year going into being an upperclassmen. As a sophomore, she was dominant so I can only imagine what she will do this year and the next.
These ladies are lethal on the court and have all the shots. They have creativity with their shots by being able to go cross-court, down the line, cut shot, tips and more. Watch for these ladies to be battling it out for first team honors.
