Seniors
Kelsey Urmanowicz (Park Ridge)
Urmanowicz is part of a deep Park Ridge squad. Her athleticism allows her to be a dominant force in the back row and helps set up everyone else to play their own game. The team knows she goings to make the dig and make a good pass to the setter for a scoring opportunity. She is the catalyst to Park Ridge. She finished with 339 digs and 11 assists last season.
Julianne Martucci (Ridgefield)
Martucci was a big piece to the Ridgefield squad last season. Her best ability is her precision passing on a dig. She’s able to create a disadvantage into an advantage. Last season, she had 218 digs and 3 assists. Watch for her numbers to rise this season in her senior year.
Valeria Diaderas (Hasbrouck Heights)
Diaderas had a solid season for Hasbrouck Heights where her anticipation is what makes her a solid libero. She reads the opposing players’ body language to take notice what type of shot is going to be hit. Just a small change in hand position helps her know line, crosscourt, tip, etc.
Junior
Jessica Balala (Midland Park)
Balala worked hard all of last season getting to every ball and making that perfect pass after many thought the ball would hit the floor. Her passing is special and she made an immediate impact last season finishing with 242 digs and 3 assists. She also plays as an OH but she really took on the role of defense to heart. Watch for her to be a massive part of Midland Park.
Jordan Rocco (Secaucus)
Rocco is one where her number may deceive you by how she only recorded 93 digs last season. However, she was sitting behind Natalie Kashian for Secaucus who had almost 400 digs. Now, Rocco gets her opportunity as the number 1 so watch for her to have a massive jump in numbers.
Sophomore
Giana Estevez (Bogota)
Estevez is part of the powerhouse squad in Bogota. She played right away as a freshman and was able to create an immediate impact. She finished with 176 digs and 22 assists. She still has room to grow as well but her versatility is what makes her dangerous. She’s a name to watch for not just next year but the next three.
These ladies are outstanding and are able to create opportunities for their teams to score when it looks unlikely. Do not be surprised if they are right in the midst of battling it out in the conference to be the best at libero.
