Continue ReadingThis weekend is the first where there is something legitimately at stake. A plane ticket to Vegas (or a long cross country trip). Badger Region will have a National and American bid at stake in 13s-18s Divisions where the first two in each division will punch that ticket to nationals. We’ll take a closer look at the 15s and 16s Division and what players will be essential to the success of their team at the Badger Region Qualifier.
Avri Solik-Fifarek – MKE Sting 15 Black
Gabrielle Wold – MKE Sting 15 Black
Sting 15 Black is had strong showings in their first two events at Central Zone and St. Louis Presidents Day. Solik-Fifarek is a six rotation outside who can contribute in every rotation. She’s an established point scorer and will be a great combination with Wold who can play on either pin and contribute in the backrow. Strong ball control and a consistent first contact will put this team in contention for some key matches on Sunday.
Emerson Van Lannen Emerson Van Lannen 5'10" | S Appleton North | 2024 State #144 Nation WI – FC Elite 15 Navy
Van Lannen is a swiss army knife type athlete where she can score points as a right side, head back to the service line and put teams out of position with a hard, flat serve, and then set in the backrow. A very dynamic skill set. She will look to set to the likes of Annalise Patchett Annalise Patchett 6'0" | OH Fox Valley Lutheran | 2024 State WI and Emma Nilson Emma Nilson 6'1" | MB Fox Valley Lutheran | 2024 State WI who can score points from the outside and middle. Olivia Baierl Olivia Baierl 5'8" | DS/L Howards Grove | 2024 State WI has been a key piece to this team as she provides a solid first contact as their libero.
Ella Safar Ella Safar 5'9" | S Burlington | 2024 State WI – MKE Sting 15 Gold (Title Photo)
Safar is quietly effective for her Sting squad where she plays extremely solid defense from right back and sets from the backrow. The strength of this Sting 15 Gold squad is their balance and depth at all positions. With Safar and her counterpart Lilly Wagner Lilly Wagner 6'0" | S Oconomowoc | 2024 State #42 Nation WI keeping their offense in system, they will be tough to beat. This team not only have aspirations of grabbing a National bid this weekend, but an Open bid (the highest division), at Nationals.
Kendall Revolinski Kendall Revolinski 5'10" | RS Pewaukee | 2024 WI – Midwest Penguins 15 Black
Revolinksi is a left handed rightside where she is always a threat to score points. This team will definitely be in the hunt to be in the gold bracket on Sunday. They have a well-balanced attack that also includes outside hitter, Ella Schumacher who can really fly on the outside and provide a solid first contact.
Sophia Nowak Sophia Nowak 5'10" | MB Arrowhead | 2024 State WI – MKE Sting 15 White
Brylee Leverenz Brylee Leverenz 5'10" | S Waukesha West | 2024 State WI – MKE Sting 15 White
Anna Dehnert – MKE Sting 15 White
Nowak definitely brings a presence to the frontline as a strong, athletic middle blocker for 15 White. With Nowak and Leverenz as to big point scorers and Leverenz as someone who can handle the ball in the backrow it allows for Setter, Anna Dehnert to run the show. They will have a big match in their final one of pool play against two seed, FC Elite 15 Navy.
Madison York – 1W 15 Bay Mizuno
York has a huge ceiling with potential of potential to be a dominant right side hitter with a big left handed swing. 1W 15 Bay Mizuno has put together a nice season so far and will be looking to compete with the top teams and advance to Sunday. They had a strong showing at the Quad Cities Clash and will have a big match with to FC Elite 15 White where if they can switch seed with them, it would land them in the Gold Bracket for Sunday.
Hannah Greisen – FC Elite 15 White
Greisen will be busy this weekend. She is on the Notre Dame Academy basketball team who will be playing in the state tournament on Saturday, could potentially play with her FC Elite 15 White squad on Sunday, and then joining the NDA volleyball program Monday as they are currently participating in the alternate fall season.
