At the Michigan Top 250 Expo, some of the next big things were on display as part of the Class of 2024. Here’s thoughts on each of the seven freshmen hitters to take part in the event.
Devin Brunk Devin Brunk 5'10" | OH Lake Orion | 2024 State MI , OH Lake Orion/Michigan Elite – Brunk made her swings look effortless at times. There was just a natural instinct to her movement and play. Brunk has the skillset to really be an impact player as she continues to work on her passing and serving.
Cameron Herman Cameron Herman 5'11" | OH Hartland | 2024 State MI , OH Hartland/Michigan Elite – Herman really shows good form on her swings and defensive positioning. She also was adjusting well, getting good swing on out-of-system balls. Her serve was also challenging for defenders to handle. Herman was one of the top performers of the event.
Mckinzie Krzaczkowski, MB Livonia Stevenson/Team Detroit – Krzaczkowski doesn’t have the same length as some of her peers, but she definitely will outwork many of them. She played bigger than her 5’8” size and was tireless in her efforts to make plays. With her work ethic, good things are to come as she continues to develop her skills.
Courtney Nye, MH Milan/Michigan Elite – Nye looked a little apprehensive in the beginning, but showed her skillset as the night went on. Only standing 5’7”, Nye came through with some solid blocking and swings when competition picked up. As she continues to find confidence on the floor, she should turn some heads.
Rayna Powers, OH Marysville/Michigan Elite – Powers was one of the more explosive players in the group of 2024 prospects. She really hammered the ball on her attacks and show a quick first step defensively.
Isabelle Swiercz, OH Hudsonville/FaR Out – Swiercz plays really long at the net, as she has a good wingspan to utilize. She’s able to play above her opponents with her 5’11” frame and also displayed a really strong serve that provided a great challenge for her peers.
Brianna Thomas, OH Trenton/Michigan Elite – Thomas was listed as an outside hitter, but she can also play the setter position. As a setter, Thomas was setting up some great feeds and making great decisions on when to call her own number. As a hitter, she had great technique and power on her swings. Thomas is going to find a way to make an impact on the floor. Her diverse skills makes her a great prospect.
