These seemingly smaller club teams might surprise you at the Molten Pre-Qualifier in the 17 Open Division on February 27th and 28th in Tampa Bay. These teams have a record of success in local tournaments which puts them in a position to compete at a high level with the best teams from the region.
Jacksonville Skyline Juniors have been a top competing club at any age division in the last few regional tournaments. Their Jax Skyline 17 Royal team specifically, has been generating a lot of success and will be competing in the 17s Open division at Molten. Several players stand out on the court for the Jax Skyline 17 Royal team.
One of these standout players includes defensive specialist Alexa Conroy, a 5’7” Class of ‘22 defender. With her experience as a libero and defensive specialist, Alexa easily runs the back-row defense in her middle back position. Her quick movements and smart reading make her extremely successful in her passing.
In the front row, Caroline Brackens (5’9”/ OH, DS/Class of ‘22) and Amoi Willis (5’11”/ M, RS/Class of ‘22) run the net. With Caroline on the outside and Amoi in the middle, this dynamic duo can put up an impressive block or crush the opposite defense with their powerful hits.
Additionally, Christina Jackson (6’3”/OH, M/Class of ‘22) rounds out the front row attackers with her big swings and smart offensive moves. While Christina excels on the outside blocking, her height makes her a threat in any front-row position. Overall, this Jax Skyline 17 Royal team has a lot of potential moving into the qualifiers to come as this 2021 club season starts to fire up.
