Here is a look at three players who played well.
OH, Avery Ahlstedt, 5’7”, (Smoky Valley) – The Smoky Valley Vikings finished their 2020 season in a state championship final and the cupboard is still plenty full in Lindsborg. Ahlstedt was all over the court in her club team’s second match of the day. She amassed five digs, four serve receptions, and four kills. She is a high-energy talent who can play six-rotations. Ahlstedt also has a powerful and accurate serve.
S, Jordyn Elseth, 5’6”, (Smoky Valley) – Elseth is a solid setter with a scary serve. She had two aces in the Strikers second match. Elseth is a left-handed setter who has multiple weapons on her club and high school teams to spread the ball out to.
MH, Katja Blanchat, 5’10”, (Smoky Valley) – Here is a name for all college coaches to write down. Blanchat is a five-foot-ten eighth-grader who arguably was the best hitter of the eight teams competing in the Momentum Madness matches. She finished with a team-high five kills and two blocks against the Manhattan Mayhem 14-2 squad. Blanchat is all arms and legs. She has a huge reach and can jump. So many things can happen in four years, but this Class of 2025 prospect should be on Division I and Division II recruiting radars.
