However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
Formed by seven high schools, the 2A Olympic District is our next stop and here are our selections:
Class of 2021
Riley Rabedeaux – Outside Hitter – North Kitsap
Riley Rabedeaux is the frontrunner to be the district’s MVP next season after her tremendous performance for North Kitsap in 2019. The 5’11” outside hitter had no trouble scoring for the Viking last season, having registered whopping 400 kills, but also contributed with 468 digs and 37 aces. Rabedeaux is a complete player who combines great technique with impressive physical tools and a mind that makes her look wise beyond her years. This package has set her up for success and her 2019 awards, being included in the All-League first team and in the All-State team as an honorable mention, reflected that.
Class of 2022
Brooklyn Irvine – Setter – Bremerton
Brooklyn Irvine has just reached the middle of her high school career, but she already plays like a veteran. A starter for Bremerton in each of her two seasons with the team, the 5’3” Irvine matured quickly by coordinating the Knights’ offense for two years now and she did so in great fashion, especially in 2019, when she handed out 124 assists. She also helped the team in other areas of the game with 24 aces and 21 digs.
Class of 2023
Sophia Baugh – Setter – North Kitsap
Sophia Baugh is another up-and-coming setter in the division after her strong debut season with North Kitsap in 2019. The 5’7” setter immediately took over the setting duties with the Vikings and led them to a State Championship appearance. Baugh is great on the ball but also a very determined player and that combination catapulted her to receive an All-League first-team nomination in her freshman year.
