Here are five players who finished their sophomore high school seasons with large numbers of kills.
MB, Jacy Thomasson Jacy Thomasson 5'11" | MB Riverton | 2023 State KS , 5’11”, Riverton – Thomasson unofficially led all of Class 3A in kills with 517. She will end up being one of the top recruits from the Kansas Class of 2023. She is tall and athletic. She can dominate a match, while also making sure her teammates play key roles. Watch for this young Riverton Ram to receive plenty of offers from Division I and Division II College Programs.
OH, Talexa Weeter Talexa Weeter 5'11" | OH Goodland | 2023 State KS , 5’11”, Goodland – Weeter could be the top 2024 prospect from Western Kansas. The Goodland talent finished her sophomore campaign with 342 kills. She is a six-rotation athlete who also finished with 298 digs. Again, DI and DII coaches need to start getting in line to watch Weeter play.
MH, Lindsey Cure Lindsey Cure 5'11" | MB Goodland | 2023 State KS , 5’11”, Goodland – Weeter is not the only talented Goodland member of the Class of 2023. Cure finished with 190 kills while adding 95 blocks. She has a long reach and benefits by playing with Weeter. Goodland should field an extremely competitive team to watch in 2021 and 2022.
OH, Sophia Becker, 5’10”, Hesston – The Swathers were a young team in 2020. One sophomore to benefit from playing on the young squad was Becker. She finished with 183 kills and has two years to increase those numbers. Becker looks like a sure-fire NAIA prospect but could move up the rankings with continued growth.
MB, Hattie Pyle, 5’7”, Frontenac – Pyle is a big jumper and a major blocker in the making. She amassed 158 kills and 44 blocks in her sophomore campaign for the Raiders. Pyle is also an accomplished basketball player and could end up getting college offers to play both sports.
