For Kent Place, freshman setter Margeaux Morial brought it home with 20 assists in her very first high school volleyball match to support fellow freshmen outside Lauren Osuala’s 12 kills. Osuala is already a clear first-option hitter as she leads the team in 19 total kills over two matches. She is clearly strong all the way around with 5 blocks, 13 digs, and 6 aces. Morial has also impressed with 37 assists over two games.
Freshman 6’1” middle blocker Taylor Miller puts up a huge block for Demarest this season. In the first 3 games, she has already totaled 11 blocks and 9 kills. She’s clearly not a timid middle and will only continue to excel as she gains more experience.
Mia Gonzales of Bergenfield has taken the court by storm this season. As an outside, she has totaled 15 kills and 3 aces over 3 matches, placing her solidly as the kill stat leader for her squad. Also on Bergenfield is freshman libero Isabella Melendez who earned 15 digs and 12 aces over 3 matches.
Emily Smernoff is a 6’1” freshman joining her older sister Alexis Smernoff the Sparta squad this season. She looks to be playing middle and oppo for them but has yet to garner any real stats. With powerhouses like MaKenzie Wiggins and Martina Foy at the helm right now, Smernoff has plenty of time to grow into her role.
Another freshman starting out for Pope John is Reagan Healy. This opposite has only a few stats in her first two games, but the sky is the limit.
Haiden Fuhrmann is a middle blocker for Union Catholic. You may recognize the name as her older sister Mackenzie is a junior at Boston College. Fuhrmann had a decent first match with 3 kills, 1 block, 1 dig, and 5 service points.
