Continue ReadingThe most important tournament of the year for the class of 2021 players is just in front of us as the 2021 USAV Girls 18s Junior National Championship is set to happen from April 23-25 in Columbus, Ohio, and as many as 280 teams from the entire country are expected to compete in the five divisions.
Texas will, of course, be represented in the event and we will take the time between now and the start of the tournament in Ohio to present the teams that will carry the Lone Star State flag in Ohio, analyzing their campaigns in the club season so far and highlighting their most important players.
The 18 American division will have three Texas team on it here’s our preview on NLVC 18 National, the last of them:
NLVC 18 National represents Next Level Volleyball Club, a club that reunites the best talent in the Lubbock area. The team coached by Jennifer Moffitt Platten has played in three tournaments registered on AES in 2021 and holds a 12-9 win record after securing its bid to the 18s GJNC at the SURVA Championships.
Here are their key players:
Kayton Genebacher – Setter – HS: Frenship – 2021
Kayton Genebacher is a talented and hard-working setter who does everything in her power to help her team score points. She’s got a great hand for the game and her sets are very accurate. That combination led her to surpass 1,000 assists during the 2019 high school season playing for Frenship. Genebacher has also a good net presence and has very quick reactions, which make her a very good defender. She’ll continue showing her great volleyball in the area after this summer as she committed to the Lubbock Christian University.
Gracie Harrison – Outside Hitter – HS: Frenship – 2021
One of the players who benefit the most from Genebacher’s great hands is Gracie Harrison as they get to share the court at both the club and the high school season at Frenship. Harrison is a high-energy, high-efficiency outside hitter who does a little bit of everything for the teams she plays and adds tremendous value to them. She plays taller than her 5’9” frame at the net with impressive hitting and blocking skills and is very good on defense. Harrison is a very dangerous server and typically puts opponents in trouble when she’s at the service line. The future of her career at the collegiate level will be at Texas Wesleyan University.
Bella Rodgers – Middle-Blocker – HS: Kingdom Prep – 2022
Bella Rodgers will likely be a centerpiece for NLVC 18 National next season but she’s already an integral part of the team. The 5’11” middle-blocker brings an interesting net presence to the team and impacts the game in a variety of ways. Her great timing is a valuable asset when blocking and her offense is just as good with some impressive athleticism and a great variation of shots. Rodgers also has very good body control, which comes in handy when she needs to adjust to an imperfect set.
