Here is a look at those four assist leaders entering their junior seasons next fall.
S, Josie McLean, 5’7”, Nickerson – McLean unofficially led all sophomores in Class 4A in assists with 568 assists. She is also a nifty defensive player for the Nickerson Panthers as she finished with 226 digs.
S, Shelbi Wilson Shelbi Wilson 5'9" | S Labette County | 2023 State KS , 5’9”, Labette County – Wilson finished her sophomore campaign with 488 assists. She is quick and manages a match well. She could play other positions in the future. At five-foot-nine it will be interesting to see if she has another growth spurt left in her with two high school seasons left to play.
S, Karlie Kanaga, 5’4”, Mulvane – Kanaga is a leader in the making for the Mulvane Wildcats. She posted interesting numbers in 2020 with 234 assists, 185 digs, and 103 skills. She is only five-foot-four, but Kanaga also added five blocks. She can jump, set, hit, and play defense.
S, Gabby Gatlin, 5’5”, Pratt – Gatlin should be the setter for the Greenbacks in 2021 and beyond. She had 222 assists for Pratt during her sophomore season. She also has a nice serve, finishing with 31 aces in 2020.
