Over the next few weeks, we’ll take some time to honor their efforts and use this space to provide a brief recap of how the season played out in each of those districts and to highlight the players who earned all-league team nominations and MVP awards for their excellent performances.
1A Northeast
Freeman cruised past the district with nine wins in as many matches and no sets lost along the way. Lakeside accomplished nearly the same level of success with six positive results and just one setback. From the other five teams in the district, Riverside was the only other to secure a positive win record at 4-3.
MVP
Jordyn Goldsmith – Right Sider – Freeman – 2021
Jordyn Goldsmith has long been a key piece for Freeman but this season she took her level of contributions to another level. The 6’2” right sider was still a scoring machine for the Scotties but significantly developed other areas of her game becoming a good server and a more capable defender and passer. Her potential didn’t go unnoticed as she committed to play for San Diego State.
