Continue ReadingThe most important moment of the season is just around the corner for teams from the 15s, 16s and 17s age group from around the country as the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from June 26-July 5.
As many as 728 teams are expected to compete in the 15 divisions for these three age groups and the state of Texas will, of course, be well-represented in the tournament with more than 50 teams expected to make the trip to Nevada.
During the next few weeks, we’ll use this space to present the Lone Star state representatives in the tournament, recapping their performances during the club season and highlighting some of their top prospects.
H Skyline 17 White
One of two teams from the Houston Skyline Club qualified for the tournament, 17 White will play in the 17 Patriot division in Las Vegas. Head coach Audrey Fragniere has led the team to some good results this season, including their victory at the Stars Sports Center #4 and second-place finishes at the FAST Warm Up and the AVA #4. Skyline 17 White’s overall win record in 2021 is 33-24 so far.

Players to Watch
Kamie Lohnes Kamie Lohnes 5'11" | MB Grand Oaks | 2022 State TX – Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter – HS: Grand Oaks – 2022
Kamie Lohnes Kamie Lohnes 5'11" | MB Grand Oaks | 2022 State TX is a key piece in Skyline 17 White’s playing system because of her offensive versatility. The 5’11” prospect is ‘officially’ a middle blocker but hits from everywhere on the net, giving her team a great deal of flexibility to run plays. Regardless if she’s on the left, right or in the middle, Lohnes brings a lot of explosiveness and efficiency to the team’s offense due to her great reach and heavy arm. She ranks 125th on our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings.
Taylor Glendening – Middle Blocker – HS: Fort Bend Travis – 2022
Taylor Glendening makes a big impact at the net with her 6’2” frame. She towers most of her opponents and uses her size and long arms to outplay those looking to challenge her at the net. She hits a really quick set in the middle and her tremendous reach makes it really difficult to stop her. She tallied 258 kills and 99 blocks in three seasons of high school volleyball for Fort Bend Travis.
Caroline Coyle – Libero – HS: College Station – 2020
Carolina Coyle is the wheel that makes Skyline 17 White tick on a volleyball court. Her hard-working game on the backcourt is instrumental to the team’s success as she not only avoid points but also initiates a few of her own with her great passing and defensive ability. Coyle’s great technique stands out to anyone watching her play but perhaps her most interesting skill is her ability to anticipate plays. She registered 134 digs and 152 passes in her last high school season with College Station.
