As many as 728 teams are expected to compete in the 15 divisions for these three age groups and the state of Texas will, of course, be well-represented in the tournament with more than 50 teams expected to make the trip to Nevada.
During the next few weeks, we’ll use this space to present the Lone Star state representatives in the tournament, recapping their performances during the club season and highlighting some of their top prospects.
HJV 17 Premier
Part of the Houston Juniors Volleyball Club, HJV 17 Premier is set to compete in the 17 National division. The team led by head coach Thomas Pratt has been as solid as it gets in the club season, finishing in the top in all but one of the nine tournaments they played at so far, snatching a 44-12 win record. The highlights of their season were their victory at the Skyline Classic #10 and their second-place finishes at the Lone Star Regionals and the Adidas Windy City National Qualifier.

Players to Watch
Jazilyn Davis – Opposite – 2022
Jazilyn Davis is HJV 17 Premier’s most important offensive player as she carries the team’s load from the right side. A left-handed, six-foot right sider, she has a bazooka of a left arm and uses it without mercy to score points. Davis is very strong physically and one important aspect of her game is that she does a great job in avoiding unforced errors and has the intelligence to recognize situations in which her tremendous power isn’t the best solution.
Nayeli Ti’a – Outside Hitter – 2022
Nayeli Ti’a proved to be a tremendous addition to HJV 17 Premier after joining the team from California. A 5’10” outside hitter, she manages to impact every aspect of the game with her great technique and well-rounded game. She’s long, athletic and jumps really well, a combination that makes life easier for her at the net – she’s a fantastic blocker too. She’s also very solid and disciplined on defense and serve-receiving and causes a positive impact in the team in those areas as well. Ti’a has committed to play for San Jose State at the collegiate level.
Caroline Howell – Setter – HS: Memorial – 2022
A left-handed setter, Caroline Howell does a great job in running HJV 17 Premier’s offense and using every piece at her disposal. The 5’10” Howell excels by making sure she adjusts her sets to every hitter’s needs and she’s extremely unpredictable as she manages to quickly switch gears in the team’s offensive rhythm. Howell also brings a lot from the backcourt, where she helps with her lethal serves and a solid defensive game.
