With that being said, I wanted to take a look at some matchups that are going to be a must-watch. I selected one-match from each section. Let’s take a look.
North 1
Randolph vs Dover
Randolph and Dover are going to be facing off in a rubber match in the second round of the postseason. Both matches were tight and could have gone either way so it will not be surprising if this one goes down to the wire. Randolph won the first meeting and Dover won the last meeting.
Dover Key Players: Eduardo Lambur (S) & Dylan Rodriguez (L)
Randolph Key Players: Kieran Lewis (OH) & Juan Parra (L)
North 2
Union vs Ridge
These are two squads that are in the 8-9 matchup and in my opinion are both way under-ranked. Their last matchup dates back to 2016. Ridge is a squad I have been talking about all-year who have played one of the toughest if not the toughest schedule this season. Meanwhile, this Union squad has flown under-the-radar all-season and 3 of their 4 defeats were too the unbeaten Scotch Plains-Fanwood. This one should not disappoint.
Union Key Players: Faraz Bahatti (S) & Nathaniel Odusanya (MB)
Ridge Key Players: Justin Hong (OH) & Ross Bancken (S)
Central
Jackson Liberty vs East Brunswick
In the Central, we have an intriguing 5-12 matchup in Jackson Liberty and East Brunswick. Both teams were battle-tested last week as both squads fell just short to a couple of the best teams in the state in Southern and Old Bridge. Those matchups are a good stepping-stone to have them prepared for this tournament.
Jackson Liberty Key Players: Trevor Van Valkenburgh (OH) & Zach Rowan (L)
East Brunswick Key Players: Kush Oza (S) & Aaron Zhu (OH)
South
Washington Township vs Kingsway
Our final section is the South and we have a rematch from the regular season that went the distance in Washington Township vs Kingsway. Washington Township came out on top in that one but if Kingsway has anything to say about it, this one will surely go the distance again.
Washington Township Key Players: Anthony Trivers (OH) & Tyler Jones (S)
Kingsway Key Players: Clay Manning (OH) & Max Ma (OH)
