Prep Dig Closes Out 2020-21 Season With #PDGauntlet
Over Memorial Day weekend, the Prep Dig Gauntlet closed an eventful past year for Prep Dig. With events across the Midwest consisting of high school tournaments, an alternate fall volleyball league due to Covid, showcases, and club tournaments – In total, 17 events with a moving target of Covid restrictions, we were able to make volleyball happen. We celebrated the final match of the weekend going 16-14 in the third set, only fitting to close the season. We were able to capture the smiles of the athletes who were playing without a mask for the first time in almost a year in Wisconsin with plenty of momentum heading into the summer.

It was a two club race between Milwaukee Sting and Mission Volleyball out of Huntley and Crystal Lake, IL area. At the end of the weekend it was all Milwaukee Sting as the 14 Black squad defeated Sting 14 White in the championship match 25-21, 25-20. Sting 14 Black was the only team in the entire tournament to finish with an undefeated weekend going 8-0

15/16s
The balance in this division was the biggest headline of this event along with three team tiebreakers that always adds extra drama to a tournament.
Day 2 provided plenty of fireworks with six openings in the Gold pools with plenty of teams with a legitimate chance to go for a Championship on Monday. MKE Sting 15 started the session on fire with a huge win and upset of MKE Sting 16 Black. MKE Sting 16 Black would fight back to sweep the next two matches which created a three-team tie between Sting 15 Black, Sting 16 Black, and 1st Alliance 16 Black. 1st Alliance was on the wrong side of the tiebreaker due to having three-set losses while both Sting teams only had two-set losses.
Much of the same was to be said about Gold Pool A where Sting 16 White was in a must-win situation after dropping their match to Midwest Penguins 15 Black. In order to advance to the gold pool they needed to defeat Capital 16 Adidas the top overall seed in the tournament. With all matches done for the night, the energy was electric on court one with each team taking a set and both having match points, but at the end of the night it was Sting 16 White coming out on top 21-19 in set three.
On Championship Monday, it was all FC Elite 16 Navy and Capital 16 Adidas. FC Elite 16 Navy came in undefeated while Capital 16 Adidas already had a win over FC Elite 16 Navy at the beginning of the month from the JVA Jam. Once again with both teams swapping sets, it was Capital 16 Adidas who held off a late FC Elite rally to win 16-14 in set three.
17/18s Division
Six teams came into the Gold Bracket on Monday with a legitimate chance to claim the title. MKE Sting 16 White was the top overall seed, but did suffer a Saturday loss to Madison United 17 Red. Revolution Volleyball Academy (RVA) 17 Navy was on fire all weekend heading into the semifinals with a 6-0 record. However, a team that had upsets on their mind was Sky High 17-1 NS. This squad out of Libertyville, IL knocked off Burlington United 17 Orange in two sets to set up a meeting with RVA. RVA took set one, but it was all Sky High after, winning 25-23 in set two and 15-7 in set three. Sky High would carry their momentum into the championship defeating Sting 17 white 25-22 in set one, but the depth of Sting proved to be too much finishing the match with a 25-16, 15-5 win to claim the title.

What’s Next for Prep Dig
Prep Dig will be covering the Prep Dig Summer League which is run by Milwaukee Sting and will feature top teams who will be looking to make a push to the state tournament in November.
Prep Dig Sizzle
There is still room for JV and Varsity teams to compete at the Prep Dig Sizzle at the Community First Champion Center in Appleton with the JV Event taking place Tuesday, July 13 and the Varsity being a two day event Wednesday, July 14 and Thursday, July 15.
We have 12 courts available for three days (ALL with AC), and a great chance for teams to compete against others outside of their conference.
Prep Dig Circuit 2022
We are already planning for our 2022 club season. We will have a Prep Dig Circuit where we have eight events locked in so far for 2022. If clubs can commit to at least three events, there will be team discounts for each club who is a part of the circuit as well as a gear package through Eastbay. Our Prep Dig Scouts will be in full force at all of these events that will be spread through Wisconsin and Illinois with events pending in Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois.
