Continue ReadingThis month I will be rolling out some articles that are a little different than we have been writing for the past couple of months. We will still be doing our regular highlight articles on multiple athletes for exposure, however I wanted to do some special articles on a few special athletes that we are getting to know quite well with Prep Dig TX. These young ladies volunteered to answer some questions so that we could get to know them a little bit more personally. The athletes were hand picked out of quite a few submissions that I received. My next installment is with Miss Jordyn Tynsky Jordyn Tynsky 5'8" | DS/L Guyer | 2024 State #65 Nation TX . She was picked because she is the back row general for one of the best teams in the nation this year in the 2024 class and we at Prep Dig TX wanted the volleyball world to take notice with a more personal account of who she is. Without further ado, here is our article on Miss Jordyn Tynsky Jordyn Tynsky 5'8" | DS/L Guyer | 2024 State #65 Nation TX .
Jordyn Tynsky Jordyn Tynsky 5'8" | DS/L Guyer | 2024 State #65 Nation TX [2024] 5-8 Libero (HS: Decatur/Club: Texas Advantage/Verbal: Uncommitted)
We currently have her ranked as the 5th best prospect overall and the top libero in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for two top programs in the Dallas area in Decatur high school and Texas Advantage Volleyball club. We profiled her back in January and here is a little from it to refresh your memory, “She is a very skilled player as she was asked to switch positions for her school season and she still starred as a hitter on the court. For club she primarily plays as a libero. We are excited about her due to her tenacity on the court and her work ethic in the gym. Her court vision is on another level and will keep her team in every play. She is a dual threat libero as her serve receive is just as legit as her defensive abilities and ball pursuit. She has a jump float that is extremely dangerous and always keeps her opponent off-balance. What stands out the most when you watch her play is her defensive range and tracking. She watches the hitter instead of the ball and allows her to be in the correct position to play the ball. If the ball is deflected or the hitter tries to make a shot, Miss Tynsky sprawls out well with no regard for her body in order to get a great touch and keep the play alive. We think she has so much potential and colleges should take notice already. Please welcome her to the State Rankings as we are excited to cover her this club season and for the future.” She is a huge part of why her TAV squad has a chance to compete to be the best team in the age group this summer at USA Nationals. They will battle some of the great teams in 15 Open and Miss Tynsky is someone who loves the challenge to go up against them. Her tenacity on the defensive end and superb serve receive passing skills will keep her on everyone’s radar for the future.
This young lady is special and we are proud to have her in our State Rankings. We can watch them blossom into amazing players over the years and compete in the sport they love, but we don’t really get to know them until we communicate with each athlete on a personal level. This is usually what sets them apart in the recruiting world from other players at their level in a college coach’s eye. We were able to ask Jordyn some personal questions so that our readers could get to know her a little better and here is a little from the conversation:
Prep Dig TX: What hobbies and interests other than volleyball do you have?
Jordyn: I just wanted to say thank you again for this amazing opportunity! Other than volleyball I enjoy spending my time with family or friends and attending/being part of school activities such as Student Council, Decatur Wise County Volleyball League for the little ones and even cheering on other athletic sports programs. Originally from Wyoming, I love to camp, fish, hunt and love the outdoors. One thing I miss about Wyoming.
Prep Dig TX: What is the most played song/artist on your playlist?
Jordyn: The most played song on my playlist would have to be either TNT by ACDC or We Ready by Archie Eversole. Both of these choices get me ready to play and excited to give every match my best efforts.
Prep Dig TX: Tell me why you started playing volleyball.
Jordyn: I started playing volleyball at a very young age, around 4 or so, because my parents knew that gymnastics just wasn’t enough for my energetic/bubbly self. I didn’t truly find my love for the game until the age of 9 when I played for a local 12’s club team. I instantly knew that the volleyball court was my second home and a place where I wanted to spend the majority of my time. At 10 years old, my team placed third in the 12U Open division, and I was hooked. My competitive edge was all I needed to know that volleyball was going to be it for me, even after trying multiple sports for multiple years.
Prep Dig TX: What keeps you motivated to get better at your craft at this point in your volleyball career?
Jordyn: My love for the game is what easily motivates me to be better not only for myself, but for all the teams I may play on. I work on my techniques because I know that if I want to play at one of the highest levels of volleyball, I can always improve on something.
Prep Dig TX: What do you love about the primary position you play?
Jordyn: What I love about being a DS/L is that my position requires more effort than skill. Yes, skill is a very important aspect of any position, but the drive to want to get every single ball up and keep the plays alive is what any back row player needs to have to be successful. With being a DS/L you have free range to ,like my coach LJ Sergio likes to say, “be a maniac.” And to be totally honest, it’s pretty cool when you have bruises right? The floor and I are best friends, or at least most days.
Prep Dig TX: Name an influential coach that you have had and why they were influential to you.
Jordyn: I have had 2 influential coaches whom both are a big part of who I am. Law Ewell, was my club basketball coach, who not only believed in me, but could see my potential and helped me gain confidence within myself. He also thought of me more than just a player on the roster but as an individual outside of the sport. And taught me that “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you,” so if things aren’t challenging for me I am not getting better. Also Coach Jon Nasgowitz. He has not only been a coach that cares for my future in volleyball, but is a coach that I can go to about life. He cares deeply about every single one of his players. I know if I’m struggling with school, outside of school, volleyball, etc. He will always be there for me. Jon is the type of coach that makes practices/lessons fun and truly wants the best for me. I can confidently say that he has made me not only a great player, but, an amazing person. He is a coach that has made an impact in my life that will be hard to show how grateful I truly am. I cannot wait to see what my future holds with Jon by my side. These two will always hold a special place for me.
Prep Dig TX: Name an influential player that you have played with and why they were influential to you.
Jordyn: As for a player, I have played with many great athletes. The most influential although would without a doubt be Jentry Lamirand Jentry Lamirand 5'11" | OH Decatur | 2022 State TX . I was able to play with Jentry my freshman year of high school at Decatur. As I got to watch how she cared for the game, I got to see how she cared for others. Jentry was a teammate that pushed me and others to be the best versions of ourselves. She was the one that would get the entire team up if we were down and always put in the extra work. I see Jentry as a role model not only in volleyball, but in life as well. SMU is very lucky to be receiving a one of a kind athlete such as Jentry Lamirand Jentry Lamirand 5'11" | OH Decatur | 2022 State TX . There is always something anyone can improve on in any sport.
Prep Dig TX: What is the one thing you want to work on the most to be better at in your position?
Jordyn: For me, personally, in volleyball I know that I can improve and work on everything. My defense could always get faster, have more range, and even so little as reading the ball. In serve -receive I can work on my angles and movement. With out of system setting I could always improve on ball placement to “trick” our opponents. I have learned that if you want to play your best you also need to have fun and love the game. When you feel free and create an environment that gets the crowd involved or makes your teammates laugh, you can really see the difference in the connection throughout the team.
We have been getting to know Jordyn quite well over the past year and we think that her future is extremely bright. She is a player who is so fun to watch play her position. You can tell by all of her answers that she loves the process of who she is becoming both on and off the court. We thought our readers would enjoy hearing what makes her stand out and hopefully she can inspire the next “maniac” libero that might be reading this. We will continue to watch her progress into one of the best liberos in our wonderful state.
Again, I decided to write a few articles on players such as her so that our readers can get a true understanding of what these athletes go through and how volleyball is a passion for them like it is for many of us. These players deserve all of the recognition that they can get. I will be rolling these out throughout the month along with our regular highlight articles that contain multiple athletes.
We will be publishing more articles daily to give the recognition to each athlete that has earned the right to be called a top 100 Texas Volleyball Player. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone you think we should watch out for or that you think have what it takes to be added to our database, please shoot me an email with some info at nov8vb@yahoo.com. Lastly, Thank you to everyone for all of the shout-outs on social media, tags, emails, direct messages, and most importantly…thank you for continuing to read out publication and support us as we strive to bring attention to the wonderful and amazing players of this great big state of ours!
