Rockwood Thunder 15 Elite took care of business the first two days as we anticipated. We had a chance to watch back the matchup with Madfrog 15 N Green. Rockwood was dominant in the first set before having a back and forth in the second. RS Laila Person Laila Person 5'10" | RS Kirkwood | 2024 State MO , who has platooned on the season in this position played well. OH Maya Witherspoon made some championship-caliber defensive plays in the contest. Allison Risley Allison Risley 5'11" | OH Lafayette | 2024 State #187 Nation MO , one of the tough outsides had timely kills including the match-winner.
HPSTL 15 Royal went 3-2, which was good enough for a third-place finish and an opportunity to stay in contention for a gold ball. Jordan Smith and Grace Killion have been productive on the pins halfway through the tournament. Isabella Bray has looked good and been strong in the middle. Setter Sammi Bergjans Sammi Bergjans 5'9" | S Incarnate Word Academy | 2024 State MO has been as advertised with her play.
HPSTL 15 Orange was one of three teams in their pool to go 5-1 so far in pool play. In the little action we checked out, Rylie Cepicky and Kayla Robertson were difference makers.
Mizuno Club North 15-1 sits at 5-1 in the America Division with one pool play match to go. OH Avery Ashby looks much stronger from when we saw her earlier this season and has been putting the ball down. Her counterpart at the net, Middle Caroline Wengler Caroline Wengler 5'11" | MB Park Hill South | 2024 State MO has matched her intensity and has been a force. Felicia Wu continues to shine from the setter position.
The team from Columbia, Missouri Juniors 15-1 has wrapped up 3rd place in their pool based on what is listed in AES with a 4-2 record thus far. Their final match on day two was a tough three-set loss to Flyers 15 APX-Jeff. Southpaw RS Autumn Bax Autumn Bax 5'11" | RS Blair Oaks | 2024 State #188 Nation MO has been terminal from the right side. OH Bailey Braun caught her eye in a couple of matches we set eyes on. Defensively, Ava Reeser looked sharp through the first two days.
