Paige can really jump. We called her “springy” in the stands when watching her club team play in the winter of 2019. That club season followed the Cowgirls’ win in the Class 1A State Tournament. She had a great high school volleyball career and in 2020 she contributed 9 assists, a team-high 2.3 KPS(169), 6 total blocks, a team-high 3.4 DPS(254), and a team-high 27 service aces with a 95.5% serve efficiency. She will be missed by the Cowgirls this fall.
Lily Johnson (DS)
Johnson played in all 81 sets for the Cowgirls last season and had 13 assists, 1 kill, 2.3 DPS(187), and 18 service aces with a 95.7% serve efficiency.
The Cowgirls will really miss these seniors with their high number of kills, digs, and service aces but they are loaded with more talent with five 2022s and six 2023s coming up quickly. These athletes have plenty of varsity experience as well, so they should be able to get right to it when the season starts for 2021. Let’s take a look at the remaining athletes for the Cowgirls.
RETURNING PLAYERS:
Makenna Laumann (2022, DS)
Laumann played in 52 of 81 sets for the Cowgirls in the 2020 season and had 9 assists, 2 kills, 1 total block, 2.3 DPS(119), and 6 service aces with a 94.7% serve efficiency.
Madison Kingery (2022, DS)
Kingery played in 37 of 81 sets for the Cowgirls last fall and had 10 assists, 1.4 DPS(51), and 9 service aces with a 93.3% serve efficiency.
Harley Spurlock (2022, MH)
Spurlock played in all 81 sets for the Cowgirls and contributed 3 assists, 2.0 DPS(161), 28 total blocks, and 22 digs.
Faith Brumbaugh (2022, S)
Faith Brumbaugh played in 69 of 81 sets for the Cowgirls and had 2.0 APS(139), 5 kills, 1.5 DPS(102), and 3 service aces with a 91.6% serve efficiency.
Keeley Mount (2023, S)
Mount played in 30 of the 81 sets played by the Cowgirls in 2020 and contributed 3.7 APS(110), 3 total blocks, 1.3 DPS(38), and 7 service aces with a 94.4% serve efficiency.
Aunika Hayes (2023, OH)
Hayes played in only 17 sets for the Cowgirls in 2020 and had 1.1 KPS(19), 14 digs, and 3 service aces with an 84.2% serve efficiency. She is probably ready for more responsibility and playing time in the 2021 season and appears to be able to get the ball down, so I expect to see more of her this fall.
Emily Hutt (2023, L)
Hutt played in 74 sets last season for the Cowgirls and had 11 assists, 2.2 DPS(166), and 13 service aces with a 95.0% serve efficiency.
Avery Dowling (2023, S)
Dowling played in 51 of 81 sets in 2020 and had a team-high 7.2 APS(365), 17 kills, 6 total blocks, 1.8 DPS(91), and 9 service aces with a 90.2% serve efficiency.
Kaden Payne Kaden Payne 5'7" | OH Sidney | 2023 State IA (2023, MH)
Payne played in all 81 sets for the Cowgirls in the 2020 season and contributed 4 assists, 2.2 KPS(178), a team-high 50 total blocks, 21 digs, and 2 service aces with an 85.3% serve efficiency. Her KPS is almost tied with the team-high so I would look for her to be even more lethal in 2021.
Fallon Sheldon (2024, RS)
Sheldon played in 60 sets in her freshman season and had 2 assists, 48 kills, 18 total blocks, and 19 digs. I would expect her to get more action in the coming season as well.
Eve Brumbaugh (2024, OH)
Eve Brumbaugh played in 77 of 81 sets for the Cowgirls in 2020 and contributed 4 assists, 1.4 KPS(108), 13 total blocks, 1.4 DPS(107), and 7 service aces with a 92.7% serve efficiency.
Also returning for the Cowgirls in the 2021 season will be Mia Foster (2023, OH) and Lily Peters (2024, RS).
Sidney has so much talent and experience in the 2022 and 2023 classes that I do not expect them to have much trouble in the coming season. It seems like they have been prepping for the coming year since last season and have been getting experience for the athletes they need to take over this season. I expect them to do well.
