Continue ReadingAustin is full of great athletes, great coaches, and great clubs. This article series is focusing on one of those clubs, Austin Skyline. We are getting some great information on players from their social media accounts and watching them in person. If you are a college coach or even a prospective athlete, we recommend you follow their account @atxskylinejrs as they truly utilize social media well with college exposure for their players. We are going to do a few volumes on them. This next article is to introduce you to some of their athletes from this past club season’s 16’s team. We were lucky enough to do some one on one interviews with a few of their athletes during one of their practices. We loved meeting them and we are sure that you will too. Check out a few of them from their 2023 class:
Isabella Breeden Isabella Breeden 5'9" | S Westlake | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-9 Setter/Right Side (HS: Austin Westlake/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Breeden is currently ranked as the 20th best overall prospect and the 4th ranked setter in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. In a previous article we stated the following, “She has excellent hands who find their location multiple times in a row for her dynamic Austin Skyline hitters. Her team is one of the top teams in the 15’s age group and she is a big reason why. Pinpoint accuracy is something that all setters strive for. This young lady is capable of setting like that already at a young age. While there is not a lot of super flash with her setting, it is extremely consistent. The main reason that she is ranked so high on our list has to do with her overall ability. She is also a primary weapon in their offensive attack on the Right Side. This lengthy lefty can already bang with the best of them. She scores at a high clip and hits the ball with authority. Isa also is a primary passer in their serve receive options as well. She has a bright volleyball future ahead of her as we only see her improving down the road. She has been on a tear with her club squad so far in the early season. They are playing lights out and have a phenomenal offense. Miss Breeden and the way she sets the table for her hitters is one reason why. She is a true dual threat who can use her whip of an arm to score with the best of the age group. She has helped them qualify for the Tour of Texas and we will see how they fare against the rest of the best of Texas in their age group.” We love what Isa brings to the table and she is worth the price of admission when you watch her play. She loves the leadership role that setting brings to her teams. She has been here since Skyline started and followed Director Jenny due to the family atmosphere and leadership that Coach Luke brings to the program. The academics first mentality that she has just shows how mature she really is. Any school who chooses her will fall in love with who she is as a person. Stay tuned to see some more amazing play from her during her junior year.
Emma Patmon Emma Patmon 5'8" | OH Cedar Ridge | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-8 Outside (HS: Bastrop/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Emma is currently ranked as the 24th best prospect in the State of Texas in the 2023 class according to Prep Dig. We have profiled Emma a couple of times since we first introduced her to the rankings last summer. In the first article we stated, “She has burst on the scene but we think she has a bright future ahead of her. Players like Emma are why I love to coach the game. She plays the way it was meant to be played. Emma has more heart and determination than a lot of players I have seen. She is a smaller player in size but don’t let that fool you, because this young lady can FLY on the court. And when she is in the air you will be wowed by how much power she possesses. Emma will slide up our rankings soon as she has promised me that she is going to work hard on her vertical this coming year. Her stats speak for themselves and she has a very high ceiling as she is under the direction of a great club director in Jenny Luke at her Austin Skyline program. She can do it all. She plays exceptional defense in he back row and covers so much ground due to her quick feet. I absolutely love her motor and can’t wait to watch her high school season and see how far she moves up our rankings. Keep your eye on this young lady as she will be a great find for a college program in the next few years. Since then she has been on a mission. We have witnessed her workouts and it is safe to say she is not done progressing yet. She is one of the hardest workers I have seen in a while who has laser focus on being the best she can be. She has that “Mamba Mentality” and whichever school gets lucky enough to have her will enjoy that infectious work ethic she has. Her hard work has translated into a very productive high school season in which she helped Cedar Ridge go 19-6 overall and 9-3 in district. She helped them go deep into the UIL State Playoffs and will be ready to lead them into a similar fight next season. Meanwhile she and her awesome 16’s team at Austin Skyline are running opponents off of the court with authority.” Emma is someone that we have had our eye on for the past year and we will not stop watching anytime soon. I loved meeting her in person and seeing that power in her approach first hand. She kept a smile on my face while I interviewed her one-on-one. We found out that she is transferring to Bastrop High this year and she said it is going to be fun to do something new and she loves the challenge. I loved how she mentioned how she looks at the positive in most things. She is just a fun young player and her and I vibed well on reminiscing about Kobe Bryant. What I loved about her answers is how she thanked her family for her hard working mentality. Every college coach that gets to actually speak to this young lady in person will fall in love with who she is as a person. She mentioned over and over how much she loves her Skyline program, Coach Vince, Director Jenny and the rest of the staff. Stay tuned for more highlights on her and her great program.
Akire Jones [2022] 6-0 Middle/Right Side (HS: Hutto/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Akire is currently unranked in the 2022 class but that could potentially change as we got to watch just how much potential she actually has in person. She raved about Coach Vince and how far he has pushed her to reach her potential. She loves the professional atmosphere that Austin Skyline brings to the table with both training and college recruitment. What I love about what Akira told me was how hard she worked when Covid hit when most players took time off. This really helped her grow so much and get to the next level. Watching her in practice showcased to me what she could really be in the future. I think her potential is amazing and she deserves to be noticed by every division one school that needs a physical front row player. I heard and saw her natural drive that she has to put in the work to be the best she can. It is that reason on why I think she has tons of potential to be on my watch list. She is a very athletic player who has not even begun to show her true potential on the court. Give her a look or two and I think you will see what I see.
Kyra Dove [2022] 6-0 Middle (HS: Hendrickson/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kyra is currently unranked according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She has been playing volleyball since she was eight years old and has fallen in love with the sport ever since she was four and watched her older sister play. She talked so much about the chemistry on her team this past year and how much she loved it. Kyra is a natural leader on and off the court and it has helped her teams so much. We think that she is someone who could easily be a game changer for a college program as she is will add so much leadership to their roster if given the chance. I had a great time interviewing her and her personality is amazing. She also raved about the Skyline program and the coaching staff so much and how they have helped her. What we love about her is how awesome her blocking is. She skies so easily and presses so well to seal the net. Once you see her defensive presence in person you will see what we see in her. Everyone else will see what wows the crowd…her crazy vertical and raw natural power on the 51 attack that she is able to hit over her opponents. We will be watching her closely as her Coach Vince and Director Jenny think she can truly take the next step in the recruiting game. Stay tuned to watch some fireworks from Miss Dove.
These are just a few of the wonderful players. Stay tuned for the rest of the volumes of this wonderful club and their awesome staff and players.
