With that in mind, we’re starting a series that will highlight some of the most promising Washington players according to their positions, classes and regions. Now it’s time we present three middle blockers from the class of 2024 from the Seattle area who started their high school careers well.
Logan Remington – HS: Mercer Island – Club: Sudden Impact
We start our list with Logan Remington, a 6’2” middle blocker who plays for her high school team Mercer Island and also for one of the top clubs in the state, Sudden Impact. Her size is the first thing to stand out (rightfully!) but there’s a lot more to her game than just that. Remington is still a work in progress, just like any other class of 2024 prospect anywhere in the country, but she’s picking up fast and improving really quick. Right now, she offers a big block that puts opponents in trouble and an offensive game that might not be extremely powerful but is very difficult to stop due to her extremely high contact point.
Ashlyn Warburton – HS: Bishop Blanchet – Club: Northwest Juniors
Ashlyn Warburton is another 6’2” middle blocker with an already solid game but scary potential to be developed. A centerpiece for her high school team Bishop Blanchet in Seattle, she also works on her game at Northwest Juniors club. Warburton is very long and is still figuring out how to make great use of her tremendous physical gifts but it already a player with a strong ability to impact the game at the net either blocking or hitting.
Alex Besteman – HS: Interlake – Club: Seattle Jrs
Unlike the other players on this list, Alex Besteman stands out for her versatile and all-around game. These are extremely valuable pieces for both her high school team Interlake, from Bellevue, and the Seattle Jrs club she plays for. The 5’8” Besteman is mostly used as a middle blocker, putting up some good numbers in kills and blocks, but can also play as an outside hitter or right sider. Much of her versatility comes from the fact that she also plays beach volleyball.
