With MSHSAA finally releasing districts, several of the players on the list will not even win a district title this year. Let us take a look at some of the top statistical leaders returning this year in Class 5.
Ella Brinkmann Ella Brinkmann 5'9" | OH St. Francis Borgia | 2022 State MO -Senior-Borgia
Will go down at powerhouse Borgia has one of the best. The 5’8 jumping jack Maryville recruit is the top returning kill leader for Class 5. If Ella were 6’0, she’d be one of the top seniors in the nation for what she can do anywhere on the court. She has been the leader at Borgia since she walked on the court her freshman year. A state title and a 3rd place finish have highlighted her career. She finished her junior year with 490 kills and 286 digs.
Jaycee Fixsen Jaycee Fixsen 5'11" | OH Nixa | 2022 State MO -Senior-Nixa
The 5’11 outside hitter for Nixa has done just about everything while playing for the Eagles. State title and 2nd place, which Fixsen is a significant reason why the Eagles succeed. A player that comes up big in critical times. Last year her semifinal performance against Borgia was vital in getting Nixa back to the championship match. Like Ella Brinkmann Ella Brinkmann 5'9" | OH St. Francis Borgia | 2022 State MO , Jaycee Fixsen Jaycee Fixsen 5'11" | OH Nixa | 2022 State MO can play any position on the court and do it exceptionally well. Missouri State recruit Fixsen is looking to get Nixa back into the title match again this season.
Isabel Zimmerman Isabel Zimmerman 6'2" | RS Liberty North | 2022 State #30 Nation MO -Senior-Liberty North
Undefeated state champions bring back a slew of talent that should give them a great chance of a repeat title. The aspect of Auburn recruits Zimmerman’s game I enjoyed so much last year was her hitting and block on the right side against St. Dominic in the state semifinals. Look for Zimmerman again to be one of the state’s top blockers. Not many teams have a right side that can do what Zimmerman does. Three hundred thirty-six kills and 77 blocks for a 24-0 state title team out of Liberty North.
Madison Corf Madison Corf 5'11" | OH Liberty | 2022 State MO -Senior-Liberty
A fixture for the Bluejays, the 5’11 outside hitter, hits a heavy ball and see’s the block well. She takes the ball off the top of the block or hit’s the seem. She is returning from a season where she finished with 321 kills and 250 digs. Corf will need to use that heavy arm to get back into the state playoffs.
Sydney Handel Sydney Handel 5'10" | OH Lee's Summit West | 2022 State MO -Senior-Lee’s Summit West
The 6’0 senior has a rapid arm swing that makes her deadly for the Titans—coming off a junior campaign where she finished with 317 kills and 258 digs. Last year, there were fourteen double-digit kills, with a season-high 24 in a 2-3 loss to eventual state champion Liberty North. She will be the go-to hitter to get West back to the state final four.
Carlie Cisneros Carlie Cisneros 6'0" | OH Liberty North | 2024 State #7 Nation MO -Sophomore-Liberty North
This kid shined last year and was a huge reason the Eagles won a state title at 24-0. Very smooth for a freshman last season and did the most damage in the state championship match, where she finished with 21 kills on 40 attempts and hit .475%. She ended up with 314 kills and hit .317%, so I cannot wait to see what’s in store for her sophomore year.
Breanna Schreimann Breanna Schreimann 5'8" | OH St. Dominic | 2022 State MO -Senior-St. Dominic
Breanna Scheimann was a great combo with Audrey Weber Audrey Weber DS/L St. Dominick | 2021 State MO and probably one of the main reasons St. Dominic went to state last year. For me, this has to be the most improved hitter in the state from her sophomore year to junior year. Having increased her kills from 28 to 300, she was just the player the Crusaders needed last year. Now in her senior year, watch out for her missile launcher right arm. The kid can fly and has a lethal swing.
Caroline Glastetter Caroline Glastetter 5'10" | OH St. Francis Borgia | 2022 State MO -Senior-Borgia
Another Maryville recruit improved significantly from her sophomore to junior year and gave Borgia another solid weapon. This high flyer outside hitter has the hang time needed to hit over much bigger blockers to help carry Borgia to 3rd place in Missouri’s largest class, completed the year with 295 kills and 238 digs with a season-high 17 kills in a 3-1 win over Fatima. Glastetter will need to have a much more significant kill percentage to help Borgia return to the final four.
Chloe Kaminski Chloe Kaminski 5'9" | DS/L Blue Springs | 2022 State #115 Nation MO -Senior-Blue Springs
The Oklahoma recruit will be a libero for the Sooners, but the kid can hit the ball. She is a fantastic hitter who knows where the defense is playing her and, more times than not, makes them pay. Last year, with 288 kills and 353 digs, look for Chloe to increase those numbers this last year of high school.
Carly Glendinning Carly Glendinning 6'1" | OH Timberland | 2022 State #109 Nation MO -Senior-Timberland
Who wants a 6’2 outside hitter that can pass and play defense? Cincinnati Bearcats do, of course, and Timberland is a lucky school to have such a player. Her movements on the court are very fluid and impressive. A solid defender also looks for Carly to get the T-Wolves back into the state playoffs in her last year.
Sydney Golden Sydney Golden 5'9" | S Nixa | 2022 State MO -Senior-Nixa
Northern Iowa will likely be getting Missouri high school volleyball all-time assist leader next year, needing only 884 more this season to take the top spot. Golden has been “golden” for the Eagles since day one. The silky-smooth setter makes everyone around her better. A great leader that puts her hitters in a perfect position to get kill after kill. Look for Nixa to be in the title hunt conversation again because of this great setter.
Annie Arand Annie Arand 5'8" | DS/L St. Francis Borgia | 2022 State MO -Senior-Borgia
Since her freshman year, Arand has started for Borgia as a defensive specialist and her sophomore year libero. She moved to the setting duties last year and guided Borgia back to the final four. One player when she wasn’t on the court because of an injury, the team dynamic struggled, but when she’s on the court, you can tell who’s the leader of this team. She has helped Borgia win two 3rd place titles and 1 State Championship and looking to add one more trip this year.
Addison Beagle Addison Beagle 5'9" | S Liberty North | 2022 State MO -Senior-Liberty North
Liberty North is returning a stacked team from the 24-0 state champions. The quarterback is ready to complete a back-to-back run this year with all that the Eagles have returning. Dishing out 912 assists, 197 digs, and 58 kills, look for more the same this year. A steady player that knows who to feed and when. Season-high 63 assists in a 3-2 win over Lee’s Summit West.
Ashley Mullen Ashley Mullen 5'10" | S Liberty | 2023 State #9 Nation MO -Junior-Liberty
Finishing her sophomore year as the 3rd assist leader in Class 5, Mullen will be looking to get Liberty back into the playoffs. Racked up 943 assists and 178 digs last season was a tremendous ending, and the Bluejays will need more production of the same to get them back to the state tourney.
