Class of 2024 Updated Rankings
We are ready for our 3rd rankings update with the class of 2024! I find it important to keep repeating myself with our Kansas rankings, they needed some work. I also should state this isn’t an easy task so kudos to the previous scouts. However, as with other rankings, many of the top players in the state and country were missing. Granted, all we had to go off of was high school season. A lot has happened since that time, which leads to some shuffling in these rankings. After navigating a pandemic, we completed a full club season which allowed us to get our eyes on many players. We watched a lot of videos! Between Ballertv, Hudl, and YouTube there was no shortage of film for players who played during the high school and club seasons.
There was no change at the top of our rankings. National Champion Skyler Pierce Skyler Pierce 6'3" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #4 Nation KS still rated out as the top player in the state. After a dominating club season, she looks to help lead Olathe Northwest back to the state tournament. And she will have plenty of help as her high school teammate Jillian Huckabey Jillian Huckabey 6'0" | OH Olathe Northwest | 2024 State #74 Nation KS slides in at number 2. She is another dominant pin who helped lead KC Power to multiple qualifier and tournament wins. At number 3, wait…how much firepower does Northwest need? All-State and club teammate to Huckabey, Julia Headley Julia Headley 6'2" | MB St. James | 2024 State #103 Nation KS sits at 3. The athletic middle was strong this spring. After three Olathe Northwest players in a row, we shift to three KC Power in a row with setter Janelle Green Janelle Green 5'9" | S Blue Valley North | 2024 State #68 Nation KS filling the 4th slot. The dynamic setter was key in the success of the 15s team this season. Rounding out our top five is Wichita setter, Camdyn Stucky Camdyn Stucky 6'1" | S Maize South | 2024 State #97 Nation KS . The 6’1″ setter led the charge for a Shockwave team that turned many heads this season.
This isn’t an easy process and players get missed. If players moved up it doesn’t mean the players who slid did anything wrong, it just means we believe these players took an enormous step in their games. Our friend at Prep Dig, Chris Fritzgerald posted a great article sharing what goes into our ranking system here. Our rankings don’t dictate future success as a volleyball player or person. These rankings are subjective but we feel with the hours spent dedicated to this process, we are on the right track. With that said, here are our updated rankings for the class of 2024.
