However, that does not mean our conference previews are done as we are down to the final two! Next up is the Tri-County! The Tri-County Conference has talent at every position on the court making it difficult to give recognition to everyone. It may be the smallest conference on paper but that does not mean there is a lack of talent. Let’s take a look at the favorites, dark horses and players to keep an eye on.
Last Season
In a season where everyone was going to play a different number of conference games due to COVID. It was going to come down to potentially playing too many games may hurt you. However, the overall dominant squad in Tri-County took home the crown by going unbeaten. This squad was Williamstown.
Favorites
Williamstown
When it comes to the Tri-County Conference, almost every time the first team you think of is Williamstown. A team that is normally at the top of being a contender for best in the state, let alone the front-runner in the conference. A squad that continues to reload talent year-in and year-out. And what makes them dangerous is their way to spread the ball around and keep opposing teams guessing who will be the one getting the kill.
Gloucester Tech
A team that flies under the radar in the conference but tries to give Williamstown trouble is Gloucester Tech. This squad has so much depth which creates opportunities to keep players fresh and playing at a high-level. They return almost everyone from a season ago so the depth remains but can they overcome their final hurdle in Williamstown.
Dark Horses
Clearview
Next up we have Clearview that is a squad that predicates themselves on sharing the ball. A team that threatens the teams at the top year-in and year-out but can never get truly get close enough to be a true contender. They had five players with 30 plus kills a year ago, expect a similar playing style again this season.
Kingsway
Lastly, the final team that can make some noise is Kingsway. Like Clearview, they are a threat but can never get truly get close enough to be a contender. But if they can get some of those close matches to go their way, who knows. Kingsway lose six key contributors from a season ago so the question will be can they reload or see others step up.
