Some players didn’t need more than three or four matches to show what they can do and as production in volleyball can come in a variety of ways, we’ll spend this week highlighting the young prospects who are off to a great start in their campaigns.
In the final article of the series, let’s take a look at the players who have been dominating the net:
Anna Knyphausen Anna Knyphausen 6'0" | OH Shorecrest | 2022 WA – Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker – HS: Shorecrest – 2022
A versatile player at the net, Anna Knyphausen Anna Knyphausen 6'0" | OH Shorecrest | 2022 WA has been producing extremely well for Shorecrest at the start of the season, but her blocking performance has been standing out. A six-footer, Knyphausen has been extremely active at the net, registering 14 blocks in just three matches, to an average of 1.4 per set. She was at her best in that area of the game in a 3-1 win against Lincoln in which she tallied five blocks.
Anna Harvey Anna Harvey 5'9" | MB South Kitsap | 2023 WA – Middle Blocker – HS: South Kitsap – 2023
A 5’9” middle blocker, Anna Harvey Anna Harvey 5'9" | MB South Kitsap | 2023 WA has been playing taller than that for South Kitsap as she’s been dominating the net for the Wolves at the start of the season. One of the pillars of the team, Harvey has produced 13 blocks in three matches, averaging one per set. She had a pair of matches in which she denied opposing hitters impressive six times, against Central Kitsap and Kingston.
Peri Hoshock – Middle Blocker – HS: Lake Stevens – Club: Washington Volleyball Academy – 2023
A 6’1” middle blocker, Peri Hoshock is a key piece in Lake Stevens’ team heading into the season. Much of it is because of her production at the net, which has already generated 12 points for the team in 11 sets (1.1 per set). Besides being long, Hoshock has also great timing at the net and places her hands well across the net, limiting the space for hitters on the other side of it. She had seven blocks against Auburn Riverside, leading the Vikings to a five-set victory.
