Private schools across the state are also filled with athletes that play at the highest level of the sport. We were able to watch some of these squads in action recently at the 2021 Houston Open, held at the facilities of the Houston Skyline Volleyball Club, and will bring our analysis on each of them and their most promising players over the next few weeks.
FBCHA Eagles
The Eagles represent the Fort Bend Christian Homeschool Athletics out of Richmond and compete in the Freelance District. The team coached by Danielle Moore finished fifth in the Houston Open, with three wins and two losses. Their 2021 season has had 11 wins and nine losses so far.
Players to Watch
Courtney Manz – Outside Hitter – Club: Katy United – 2022
A fearless hitter, Courtney Manz is FBCHA’s most used offensive piece for good reason. The 5’9” outside hitter is extremely explosive when hitting the ball and doesn’t shy away from the most important moments of matches, calling for sets when the match is on the line. Manz is currently the Eagles’ top scorer with 55 kills and has also contributed with 125 passes and 71 digs.
Chloe Geiger – Setter/Right Sider – Club: Houston Stars – 2023
Crafty and tenacious are probably the best words to describe Chloe Geiger’s game. An extremely technical player, FBCHA’s setter/right sider thrives in finding intelligent and creative solutions for any situations, be it when she’s setting or hitting. She’s a real hustler and her fighting spirit typically infects the entire team. She currently leads the Eagles in assists (222) and digs (116) and ranks second in aces (13).
Chloe DeMoss – Outside Hitter – 2025
A freshman, Chloe DeMoss didn’t take long to show how valuable she can be for FBCHA. The 5’10” outside hitter has been especially effective on offense, arguably the most promising aspect of her game, having registered 53 kills so far. She’s also capable of playing on the right if needed. Her defensive game is still a work in progress but she all the tools to be really solid on it too.
