Continue ReadingWe have officially hit the midseason marker, and I have had the opportunity to explore many athletes and the talents that they bring to the court. Many look at just the strong and dominant talent that those bring to the court, however, it is important we look forward to those who have continuously improved on the court.
Hillary Davis– Kenwood Academy
The 5’10”, outside hitter, is an athlete that I been able to watch and gather information on her playing field thus far, and I am rather impressed. Davis represents the Class of 2025 and what stands out most is her work ethic and ability to adapt to her team and the new athletic field. Davis is without a doubt an athlete that I will be keeping an eye on, as she continues to out-do herself as a developing athlete on the court.
Leila Wordlaw– Kenwood Academy
Wordlaw is a newer face when it comes to volleyball and she is a very interesting athlete to get to know. Wordlaw is another most improved player when it comes to her work ethic and athleticism. The improvement that was seen was through her ability to move across the court. She is quick on her feet and is without a doubt coachable, which is important when it comes to player development. Wordlaw is a player that carries herself well, with her fundamentals and foundation training. I look forward to keep Wordlaw close to watch her further development.
Lariel Wordlaw– Kenwood Academy
The setter is yet another improved player when it comes to her athleticism on the court. Wordlaw is a developing player when it comes to her work ethics on the court, and her ability to also be coachable is very important when it comes to the foundation of players. Her improvements lay between being able to move across the court and set up perfect sets for her hitters and being able to continue to be a team player. There is more I would like to see from Wordlaw, and look forward to seeing her progression throughout the remainder of the season.
Dyan Oliver– Homewood Flossmoor High School
Oliver continues to deliver outstanding performances on the court, and makes sure that she improves herself each set that she is seen in. Oliver is without a resilient athlete when it comes to her abilities to improve and stand out on the court. Oliver is a strong and content athlete, and that is something that I highly take into consideration when it comes to analyzing their play each week. Oliver does not stand down. She shows up, gives us more than she did than the week before, and continues to strive on the court.
