16 Black is another group that has a great chance to make a statement on the national stage. Premier is so stacked with talent this year that they’re able to assemble multiple formidable teams in a single group. This team helps demonstrate that.
So, let’s give you a glimpse of some of the athletes who will be leading 16 Black into a very promising 2022 club campaign.
Versatile Attackers
One of my first impressions of this 16 Black squad is that there’s a lot of attackers that could play multiple positions along the net. Some may also be effective in the back row.
Morgan Glaser Morgan Glaser 6'0" | OH Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE is a good example. This physical hitter from Papillion-La Vista can be effective on either pin, and her all-around game continues to develop. Kaelin Pribyl Kaelin Pribyl 6'0" | OH Millard West | 2024 State NE is another skilled attacker from an elite high school program that should continue to impress this winter. Lastly, keep an eye on Ashlynne Havermann as she crosses the river from Council Bluffs and should represent Iowa well on this team.
The middle blocker spot is similarly stacked with do-everything players. Isabella Lamb Isabella Lamb 6'0" | RS Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE and Eden Moore bring some nice length to the net for 16 Black, and they’re capable of sliding over to the right pin if needed. Camille Renken Camille Renken 5'7" | OH Millard South | 2024 State NE has made some great contributions to the Premier gym already and is poised to be a big factor on this team again.
Ball Control
Passing and setting ought to be a strength for this team. That often bodes well for long-term club success.
A handful of standouts occupy the defensive specialist spot on the 16 Black roster. Haylee Wolf Haylee Wolf 5'7" | DS/L Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE is coming off a breakout year with Elkhorn North, and she will likely get plenty of run in the libero jersey for this group. Class A high school teams are represented well within this group, too, and Kyla Dyrstad Kyla Dyrstad 5'6" | S Papillion-La Vista South | 2024 State NE and Eleanor Brislen Eleanor Brislen 5'11" | OH Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE were two can’t-miss 2024 defenders from the Omaha metro. Shandy Faalii helps demonstrate the emergence of Lincoln liberos, too.
Finally, the setter position will be anchored by Faalii’s Lincoln East teammate, Aaliyah Bradford Aaliyah Bradford 5'4" | S Lincoln Southwest | 2024 State NE . This 2024 setter emerged as a reliable leader for her Spartans squad, and she will look to raise her stock further in 2022.
Overall, 16 Black is a team worth following as the club season begins rolling soon. With so many Premier teams having the potential to break through this year, don’t lose sight of this group as they chase new heights for their club program.
