We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. The first article in this series is devoted to the Setters. These two young ladies are our picks for 1st Team All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Setter
Carlee Pharris Carlee Pharris 5'11" | S Brandeis | 2022 State #141 Nation TX [2022] 5-11 Setter/Right Side (HS: Brandeis/Club: Alamo/Verbal: TCU)
Miss Pharris is currently listed as the 26th best overall prospect and the 5th best setter in the 2022 class. We have profiled her a few times and here is a little of what we have written, “Carlee is a six-rotation player as well and started for Brandeis last season as a Sophomore. Carlee has an energy on the court that is contagious. She wants to do great things, but gets just as excited for her teammates’ success as well. She was also selected to 1st team all district this past season. Carlee is committed to play at TCU just like her teammate. They will be a good combination for years to come. This wonderful setter/right side has just had an amazing season along with her Brandeis squad. We knew they were going to be good when we profiled them, but we didn’t expect them to run the table as well as they did. They came out firing on all cylinders from the start of the season and didn’t stop until they were upset in their deep state playoff run. Carlee was one of the biggest reasons for their great season. She is a great teammate and wonderful person on and off the court. Please help us congratulate her on the movement as one of the best players in the entire state. This young lady has been on fire and has led her team to a top five state ranking all year. She has a great team and is the primary quarterback of a prolific offense. The season is nowhere near over and she already sits at 949 assists. Carlee is one of the main reasons why her team is currently 37-2 overall and 12-1 in district.” This young lady had such a wonderful ride this past season. We were able to watch in person as she helped lead her amazing Brandeis Varsity team to their first ever UIL State Championship. The accolades are continuing for Miss Pharris as we have chosen her as 1st Team All-State for Prep Dig Texas. Her work on the court this season speaks for itself and she has earned everything she has achieved. Please help us congratulate her on the amazing achievement for her senior season.
1st Team All State Selection: Setter
Averi Carlson Averi Carlson 6'0" | S Lovejoy | 2022 State #3 Nation TX [2022] 6-0 Setter(HS: Lovejoy/Club: Dallas Skyline/ Verbal: Oklahoma)
Averi needs no introduction to anyone who follows high school volleyball. This young lady is currently ranked as the best high school prospect in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. In our previous articles we have written the following, “Former national sophomore of the year is no stranger to success. Her lengthy frame allows her to be extremely deceptive when deciding to push the ball in front or behind her. She is such a gifted setter with extremely soft hands that led her high school team to a state title as only a Sophomore last year. This year she has her Dallas Skyline team running at a great pace against some great Texas Club competition. If you want to see a ball come off of a player’s hands smoothly, check this one out. She moves on the court as if she was born there. While it has taken a great deal of work to get to this level, she still makes everything look so easy. Oklahoma is getting one of the best setters they have ever recruited in this young lady. She will lead this program to greatness over the next few years since she is only a junior. Watching her in action in person this summer at the Girls Junior National Championships really puts everything into perspective. She deserves every accolade she gets as she will likely have every opportunity to start her Freshman year at Oklahoma. In the meantime, she has some history to make during her senior season. Stay tuned to see what she does. We have been watching very closely and this young lady is proving that she has some serious skill in every aspect of the game. She is showing some amazing hitting and defense to go along with her sensational setting ability. This young lady is filling up the stat books during her senior season. She has 152 kills on the season and is on pace to have more than she had the last two years combined. Go ahead and add 50 aces, 287 digs, and 699 assists to those awesome numbers for this season that is not even done yet. Lovejoy is currently 32-6 overall and 11-1 in district and will be in the hunt for their third consecutive State Title.” We were able to watch in person as she helped etch Lovejoy into the history books as a back to back to back State Champion. We are extremely proud of her and would like to announce that she is our pick for 1st Team All-State for Prep Dig Texas. Please help us congratulate her on the wonderful achievement.
