These rankings are heavily weighed based on CIF and state playoff results. Except in a rare instance, a team will not be ranked ahead of a team it lost to in CIF or state. There may be an example of a team losing to the same opponent in CIF then beating that team in state and in that instance the state victory usually takes precedent. We tried hard to follow the results chain as closely as possible but in a sport like volleyball with tournament play during the regular season, those results can create more questions than answers.
31. Monte Vista (24-10, North Coast Section)

(Jr); MB Lucy Chertock (Fr); S Morgan Daetz (Jr)
2022 Outlook: The Wolves will see their share of roster turnover. They say goodbye to two pieces that helped hold down the offense in Archer and Deely while also losing half of the setting combo in Soriano plus their defensive stalwarts in Drucker and Bull. The pieces to build around include returning kill leader Ross at outside and Chertock, who was second in blocks as a rookie.
33. La Salle (25-6, Southern)
Season Highlight(s): Del Rey League champion; CIF Southern Section Division 2 Semifinalist (lost to Aliso Niguel); CIF State Division 1 Round 1 (lost to Eastlake)
Key Graduates: OH Dani Thomas-Nathan
Key Returners: OH Ashley Li (Jr); S Mikayla Hsieh; MB Holly Rettig (Fr)
2022 Outlook: It’s a difficult task facing the Lancers, who must replace the offensive force that was Thomas-Nathan, who is signed with USC. While La Salle will be challenged doing that with just one player, there are enough returning pieces to believe the Lancers can make a run in CIF and possibly return to the state tournament.
34. Amador Valley (25-8, North Coast)
Season Highlight(s): CIF North Coast Section Division 1 runner up (lost to Monte Vista); CIF State Division 1 Quarterfinalist (lost to Hillsdale)
Key Graduates: MB Camille Ernst; RS/OH Ella Hodges
Key Returners: S Samantha Riter (Jr); L/DS Kaitlyn O’Sullivan (Soph); OH Madison May (Jr); MB Charlotte Kelly (Fr); L/DS Makezne Mapes (Soph); OH Zoe Allison (Soph)
2022 Outlook: The departure of Ernst will be felt as the senior middle led the team in blocks and hitting percentage. The good news is Kelly wasn’t far behind in blocks and will have a year’s experience to go off of. Plus, the team’s kill leader in May is back, as is the setter Riter. It should leave the Dons vying for another sectional title and a team to pay attention to in the state playoffs.
35. Christian Brothers (30-7, Sac-Joaquin)
Season Highlight(s): CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 runner up; CIF State Division 1 Round 2 (lost to Hillsdale); Capital Athletic League champion
Key Graduates: OH Gillian Hurley; OH Lily Patock
Key Returners: S Drew Deguzman (Jr)
2022 Outlook: The Falcons are in for a new look and their most pressing need will be replacing the large amount of offense provided by Hurley and Patock. The pair nearly combined for 1,000 kills this fall.
