They get plenty of pub from not only this site, but the national site as well, now that we’re providing access to all of our state-run sites. Here are some players you might not know outside of the open-level performers.
NIVA 17 PURPLE
The 17-1 squad from “the region” has a good amount of talent entered into the 17 Premier Blue division. Setters Kylie Creech (’24, 5-5 S, Mishawaka) and Leah Ostrom (’23, 5-8 S, Homeschool) will be tasked to run the show in an early start (0800) on court 83 in the Indiana Convention Center. Kylie is an up-and-coming setter from up north that just surpassed 1000 assists in her young career. Leah has been on the club scene with NIVA for a bit, and shows size and strength in her game. Both are adept defenders at their position as well. My guess is that Tiffany Watterson (’23, 5-4 DS/L, Elkhart) will have her opportunities to defend, both with the alternate jersey and without. Her speed and ability to stay on her feet longer than other defensive dandies her age make her marketable to the next level. Two bigs that will have to get involved early are Kate Trueblood (’23, 6-0 MB, Penn) and Macie Swinehart (’23, 5-10 MB/RS, Concord). Kate is a solid M2 option, and does most of her damage away from the setter, while Macie is a multi-positional talent that also excels off of two feet.
