From teams that we are familiar with to those that may be fairly new, I am excited to see teams gunning for their position on the court and to advancing to the next round.
Epic United 16 Premier
Based out of Indiana, Epic United 16 Premier has brought their A-game and beat their opponents to the punch in starting off their weekend strong. Going with three straight wins over their opponents in the first round of games, caught my attention, because of the tactical style that these young women were playing when moving across the court. And always with a tough team, there are some key players that caught my eye on the court, that contributed to the 3-0 win to kick off MEQ weekend.
Kylie McCabe
McCabe is not a new name, as I mentioned her earlier this week prior to the start of MEQ and boy was I not wrong about her development as a player. McCabe understood the assignment, when it came to walking out on that court and outperforming herself from the previous tournaments that she has attended. McCabe had her head on straight, making sure that she had consistent sets and was in the right place at the right time when it came to reflecting attempted kills.
Julianna Kisel
Kisel is another honorable mention when it comes to the early performance that she had contributing to the win over the three teams they stayed the weekend off with. Kisel is not only a defensive athlete on the court, but her ability to move across the court and have chemistry with her setter makes way for the remainder of how the rest of the games are going to be played. Kisel has a different playing style and is very vocal on the court that worked in the favorite of her and her team.
Chicago Elite 16 United
This is not Chicago Elite’s first rodeo and won’t be the last when it comes to securing back to back wins over their opponents. Chicago Elite swept their opponents in the opening games of the weekend and put on one heck of a performance and I am excited to see what they have in the next coming days. This team wet 3-0 in their first round of tournaments and is set to play Sunday, March 27 at 8am.
Molly Robinson- DS/L
Robinson is a key player when it comes to being the key point of her team and the defensive team that they have as a whole. Robinson can get low to the ground and is not afraid to get down and dirty on the court when it comes to protecting her side of the court. Robinson is the definition of a go getter and I am excited to see what she has to bring Sunday.
Eliza Ramey
Ramey is another stellar athlete to watch for the remainder of this weekend. What caught my eye about Ramey is her ability to move across the court efficiently and with desire to getting the job done. Ramey has the ability to make it as a stock rising athlete and was a key contributor to her team winning the last three games this weekend. If you have the time to catch another stellar performance, Ramey would be one of the few key players of the Chicago Elite team to watch out for.
