Continue ReadingWith a series of qualifiers are taking place and we are seeing various teams with players emerging on the court, we are going to take a look at some of the top five hitters that are catching the eyes of many on the court and continue to make a name for themselves.
Between the outside hitters and middle hitters, both positions play a huge part in the outcome of a teams success as they are responsible for making the ball over the net and posing an outer threat to the opposing teams. These five athletes caught my eye through their ability to work the net and are break through athletes on the court and for their teams.
Lucy Arndt Lucy Arndt 5'11" | OH Aquin Catholic | 2023 State IL – VC United /2023
Arndt is without a doubt a break out athlete on the court and is very powerful when working the net. Arndt stands out with the power she has on her swing and her consistency that she has when working from the outer areas of the court. Standing at 5’11, the junior has managed to bank over 900 kills, 600 digs and 116 aces. Her strong arm, poise and fundamental training is vital to her performance on the court and is impressive to see up close.
Campbell Paris Campbell Paris OH Barrington | 2023 State #191 Nation IL – Sky High Volleyball Club/2023
Another break out athlete, Paris has a stellar form and has one mean arm on her. Standing at 6’3, Paris has both the height and power to the punch when it comes to getting the ball over and opposing a threat to her opponents. Paris has over 600 careers kills and roughly 150 digs and continues to rise to the top when she rotates on the court. Paris is consistent on the swing from either side of the court and her strength and agility is what keeps her moving and progressing on the court.
Cydney Anderson– Sports Performance
The 5’9 hitter is another athlete you are going to want to keep on your watch list as she continues to out perform herself and her opponents in each set that she is seen in. With a steady swing and good height off the ground, Anderson is able to stay consistent with swing and keeping a level ball over the net. Watching her rotation around the court and her drive to setting up the kill with her setter and reading the floor, allows for her to continue rising to the top.
Bridget Cassady– Illini Elite
The 5’10 freshman is new to the scene, so though she has some work to do in racking up her her kills, she has a eye for being steady on the defensive end. Though she is heavy on the height, Cassady is not afraid to get down and dirty when needed to reflect the ball. With roughly 160 digs and 250+ serving receptions, it is safe to say that she going to be found near the floor boards and the top of the net. Having such diversity on the court, shows that she is more than a hitter, she is reliable in areas where she may be needed and that is a good skill to learn.
Kindle Williams- Illini Elite
Williams in my book is still an emerging player, but don’t let that fool you and the talent she has to bring for her team. Standing at 5’8, Williams has a steady arm and can later develop the strength and consistency that is needed in her swing to have a strong and sturdy hand. Williams is seen as a go getter, so when it comes to stepping up at the net, she is there and makes an overall effort to get the ball over and keep the ball in live play.
