There have been many players making a name for themselves with their offensive scoring ability or defensive dominance. Here are four players who caught our attention due to their improved play from high school to club season.
Sanoma Hunter Sanoma Hunter 6'0" | MB Van Horn | 2023 State MO – 2023 – Mizuno Club North 17-1
We remember talking about Hunter early on and stressed moving to a more competitive club team would benefit her and help her growth. We have seen that over the last few years. She was already really good defensively, putting up a solid block with her length. She has gotten stronger and more agile which has benefited her offensively as she is a prime option down the middle.
Aisha Aiono Aisha Aiono 6'3" | MB Liberty | 2023 State MO – 2023 – Mavs KC 17-1
One of the biggest adjustments to Aiona’s game was simply playing with a stronger team, which she got with Mavs KC 17-1. It’s a simple game when the first pass is on the money as it gives the setter many options and because of that, she has looked dominant offensively at times. She has good footwork and continues to improve behind the setter. She has always been an above-average blocker.
Haley Yount Haley Yount 6'2" | MB Northwest | 2024 State MO – 2024 – Rockwood Thunder 16 Navy
Yount is a player who has a ton of potential, which was on display during the high school season. She turned some heads early in the club season by making the 16 Open All-Tournament team at the Presidents Day Classic. Her volleyball IQ continues to raise as she plays against tougher competition. She has good size and looks very strong in front of the setter.
Hillary Estes Hillary Estes 6'1" | MB Nixa | 2023 State MO – 2023 – 417 Juniors
Estes has been a fun player to watch development just over the course of the last calendar year. She has a powerful, quick arm swing and reads the block in front of her well. She transitions well off the net to position herself to be available for a set. She gained great experience playing up on the 18s this season and will take potentially take on a leadership role, playing with the 17s during their national tournament later this summer.
