For this series, we will be spotlighting athletes from teams that finished in the top 20 for the 18U/16U division who were nominated by their club coach, or a club coach from another team.
Without further ado, here are the 2024 attackers that had stellar performances.
Alondra Paz Alondra Paz 5'9" | OH State #150 Nation OR , 5’9”, OH, Athena Volleyball Academy 16-1 Gold, Woodburn High School

Paz is the primary outside hitter for the Athena 16-1 Gold team. She is a true six-rotation outside hitter because she can really do it all, and at a high level. She can block, hit, pass, serve, and make defensive plays. Her coach noted it is a surprise when she makes an error as she is such a constant force for the team. She has helped the team achieve new heights and play at a high level at all times.
Poppy Prewitt, 5’8”, OH, Jesuit High School, Athena Volleyball Academy 16-2 Black

Prewitt is one of the primary outside hitters for the Athena 16-2 Black team. Her play at Regionals was consistent, and “clutch”. Her coach praised her all-around play. From her defense in the front and backrow, her solid serve receive, her top-notch attacking (her attacking stats were at the top of the leader board), and her constant positive energy on the court. All were all crucial in the team’s 10th place finish.
Kathy Regalado Kathy Regalado 6'0" | RS Central Catholic | 2024 OR , 6’0”, RS, Central Catholic High School, Portland Volleyball Club 16-1
Regaldo received a shout-out from another coach, and although the PVC 16-1 team did not finish in the top 20, given the nod, I felt it necessary to still include her in this series. A leftie, the right side is a natural fit for her. The coach applauded her for being an incredible weapon at the 16U level. Regaldo is a go-to attacker for the team, and a definite impact player. She is not afraid to take big swings and absolutely bang the ball.
Bailey Robertson, 6’1”, MB, Sisters High School, Central Oregon Volleyball Club 18-1

Robertson is one of the starting middle blockers for the COVC 18-1 team. Her blocking game is where she truly shines, she is dynamic and consistently prevents the ball from getting across the net, or at least slows it down. Her attaching at Regionals was also next level, hitting over .500. Skill aside, her coach praised her attitude and noted that Robertson is 110% in all the time.
Gracie Vohs, 6’0”, OH, Sisters High School, Central Oregon Volleyball Club 18-1

Vohs is an all-around outside hitter for the COVC 18-1 team. She is a smart attacker, with a range of angles and shots. Her defense and serve recieve were stellar across the two days. And her serving was tough, racking up plenty of aces and disruptions on the other side of the net.
