Yesterday Licking Team camp was held at several locations around Farmington, and I got to preview some teams. Farmington took out South Iron and Valle Catholic 25-16, 25-14 to win the top bracket. Here are some top performers for the 2024 Farmington Licking Team camp recruits.
69. Ava Penuel Ava Penuel 5'9" | S Fredericktown | 2024 State MO – 5’8″ – Setter/Outside – Fredericktown
Penuel is one part of a setter/outside combo for the Black cats this season. After a fantastic sophomore year where she would finish 2nd in both kill and assists, look for Ava to be more offensively this year. Great hands, quickness, and a high volleyball IQ make her a solid JUCO recruit.
NR. Ade Wieler – 5’7″ – Outside – Valle Catholic
Another long line of gritty players for the Warriors, Wieler looks to be the go-to player this year, trying to lead Valle back to a third straight final four. Smart player with a solid vertical, quick arm swing and reads the ball well defensively. She’s another undersized player that should be a big JUCO recruit.
NR. Sydney Woods – 5’2″ – Libero – Lesterville
Little sparkplug will help the Bearcat’s backcourt this year. Look for Woods to scoop up a ton of hits this year. She was a significant factor in the camp, moving to the libero position and immediately making a significant impact with more practice and comfort with the position.
NR. Taylor Lorenz – 5’6″ – Setter – Arcadia Valley
Returning to run the offense for the Tigers will be Taylor Lorenz. Nice hands, high volleyball IQ, and a floor leader will look to get the Tigers back to .500% this year. With several hitting options to feed, look for her assists total to increase from last year’s 546.
63. Anna Parker Anna Parker 5'4" | DS/L South Iron | 2024 State MO – 5’4″ – Libero – South Iron
A primary passer and a key returning defender, look for Parker to control the backcourt more this year with all the experience gained from last year. As a sophomore libero for the Panthers, she helped guide them to their first final four and a fourth-place finish. A quick libero and solid passer will help make the Panthers one of Class 1 top teams.
