7 Players Rise From The Sizzle
There are a lot of athletes we already know. You see them in our rankings or multiple articles and they have been the ones to watch and also consider standouts for a while. Everyone grows at a different rate, and that is true for athletic development as well. Here are some players who made a statement and caught our attention this past week at the Prep Dig Sizzle. These athletes have been discovered and will be watched much closer this fall.
Casey Vaughan Casey Vaughan 5'5" | OH Pacelli | 2024 State WI – 2024 – 5’5 – Outside Hitter – Pacelli
Vaughan is fun to watch as a springy little pin hitter who just flies. This explosive pin hitter was a big point scorer for Pacelli. Vaughan has a massive vertical and electric swing that will put some heat on the ball to score points. This tenacious competitor will be a key point scorer heading into her junior year for the Cardinals, who will be looking for a conference title once again.
Lily Berrens Lily Berrens DS/L Hortonville | 2024 State WI – 2024 – Libero – Hortonville
Berrens is a solid first-contact and moves really well. She has been a tough defensive specialist for Hortonville and continues to make progress. Berrens has a sound platform with control and reads attackers well.
Grace Nommensen Grace Nommensen 5'11" | OH New Glarus | 2023 State WI – 2023 – 5’11 – Setter/Outside Hitter – New Glarus
Nommenson is a 3-sport stud who I saw setting and swinging from everywhere on the net. I’m not sure there is much she can’t do! Nommensen sets a great block and takes a powerful heavy swing. The 5’11 New Glarus incoming senior almost jumped out of the gym at the Prep Dig Sizzle this past week. She did a really nice job of working around the block and seeing the court.
New Glarus’s 2023 Grace Nommensen Grace Nommensen 5'11" | OH New Glarus | 2023 State WI is a studly athlete that I saw taking swings from the pins, the middle and going into the backrow to set. New Glarus has something cooking and are worth a look. #PDSizzle@PrepDigChris @PrepDigEvents @PrepDig @PrepDigWI @prepdigrachel pic.twitter.com/F6XFFBe1mb

Mia Jannazzo Mia Jannazzo 5'10" | OH Waukesha West | 2026 State WI – 2026 – Outside Hitter – Waukesha West
Jannazzo is super springy and can pull the trigger down the line before the block even gets close. She does a really nice job mixing up her shots from either pin, and whether she is ripping it down the line or going for the roll shot to find open court, she is really terminal. Jannazzo is an explosive attacker who could be a serious threat for the next 4 years.
Logan Koepke Logan Koepke 6'0" | OH Caledonia | 2024 State MN – 2024 – 5’11 – Outside Hitter – Caledonia (MN)
Koepke may be one of my favorite finds of the week! She is brand new on my radar and definitely made a statement at the Sizzle with her Minnesota squad. Koepke is super springy and athletic, making her really fun to watch because she makes it all look so effortless. With a big fall season, Koepke could be declaring herself as a top Minnesota 2024 pin. She is very adaptable and can speed up her arm swing for more power to score points in just about any kind of situation. Koepke can take a big swing that injects a bolt of energy into her team.
Olivia Bahr Olivia Bahr MB Cedar Grove-Belgium | 2025 WI – 2025 – Middle Blocker – Cedar Grove-Belgium
Bahr just had this knack of knowing exactly where to place the ball as an attacker. She has a really high contact point, long reach, and knows how to work the angles really well. She is a Class of 2025 prospect from Cedar Grove-Belgium and a really key piece to both their offense and defense.
Sydney Schroeder Sydney Schroeder 5'7" | S NDA | 2024 WI – 2024 – 5’7 – Setter – Notre Dame Academy
Schroeder moves really well and, aside from being a smooth setter, she is a super scrappy defender. Schroeder is from the Class of 2024 and could be on the shortlist as a potential setter at NDA after the graduation of Cadence Maxfield. If she isn’t used as a setter, she could be a really solid defensive specialist. Schroeder has really improved as an all-around player who can run an offense and control the pace of the game. She moves the ball quickly from pin to pin, hustles for every ball, and her confidence was growing in front of our eyes this week.
